12/Feb/2025 Four of us helped out in the morning as the ranger oversaw the removal of tens of bin bags filled with rubbish, collected in the area below the old quarry on Dealul Melcilor by the lads from Comprest and volunteers.
Five of us spent a few hours collecting rubbish littering the north-eastern sector of Dealul Melcilor (Brașov). Around 30 bin bags with a capacity of 60 L were filled until heavy or full and carried down. Each item of rubbish which was removed is one less which would otherwise work its way into the soil, degrading to release toxins which would work their way through the ecosystem, accruing in organisms near the top of the food chain (many of them birds), or finding their way into the groundwater and the adjacent river, resulting in wider contamination. Dealul Melcilor forms part of a Natura 2000 protected area (site code: ROSCI0120).

Removed some of the rubbish littering the north-eastern sector of Dealul Melcilor (Brașov) and other parts of the woodland area. 5 bin bags with a capacity of 60 L were filled until heavy or full, before being carried down and disposed of properly.

Spent about an hour on Dealul Melcilor (Brașov), during which time we were able to remove various rubbish littering the vicinity of the woodland paths (about 60L in total). Dealul Melcilor forms part of a Natura 2000 protected area (site code: ROSCI0120).
